Seriously..?

After a long day at the office I stopped by the bookstore at the train station and picked up the August 2010 issue of British Vogue. Then rushed to my train and settled in for the 20 minute ride with my fashion fix of choice.

Not even 10 pages into it I came across this:

Maybe it's me, maybe I was just tired, but this actually made me laugh out loud.

Please, someone help me out here. What do you call this? Yeti Chic? Antarctic Chic? Siberian Chic? Global Warming Chic? Is it even ethical to profit from the impending doom of planetary ecological disaster? Hhm... Supply & demand, I suppose.... but I digress...

And these fury pants Freja's wearing...

(both images scanned by me)

Which you can't really see on the scan, so here's a better pic...

(from Style.com)

WHERE do you wear these to?

Oh yes, I get the concept of concept. I understand that high fashion is not always to be taken literally. Sometimes it's just an idea, a feeling, a mood, but this is a RTW collection. As in ready to wear to... ehhm... Where did you say again? Skiing? Scaling K2? A north / south pole expedition? The outer rings of Neptune?

Seriously?

D&G DIY

I was inspired by the jeans in this D&G Fall Winter 2009 ad...

... and decided to try and make something similar myself. This is the result.

I really like how they turned out.

I made them last September but wore them for first time yesterday out for dinner with girlfriends.

I like her shoes...

The girl? I'm pretty sure it's Caroline Blomst of Stockholm Streetstyle.com. What with the Balenciaga bag and cut off jeans, if it's not her then this girl could be her doppelganger.

The shoes? Chloe Wood and Canvas Wedges. On sale now at Cosyshoes.com for $205.00 from $595.00!

On the Look Out...

You know what it's like. You hit the shops in search of... well whatever it is you have in mind. But of course you never find what you're looking for... that is, until you're not actually looking for it anymore. I've learnt my lesson and given up on that strategy. What I do now is kinda keep my wishlist in mind and pick things up as I come accross them. New items on my wishlist:

1. An army green blouse/shirt a la Kourtney:

... although I'm really liking Carine's beige version as well... Hmm.. choices, choices...

2. Feather earrings.

These peacock feather earrings are from Asos.com, but they're kinda...

yes... HUGE! So I'm still on the look out for a more wearable pair. The black ones are from Charlotte Russe, but they're sold out. So like I said, still on the look out...
