By now you must have noticed that this blog isn't being updated anymore. It's not you, it's me. I've been working on a project that's very dear to me: my own website!

I have the day off today, so naturally I hit up Primark. You have to get there early, because after 11.00 AM it's mayhem!

I picked up this necklace (€5) and and bracelet (€4). Cute right? The funny thing is they were bought hanging randomly somewhere in the store. Like they were put there especially for me. ;-)

I also stopped by Zara to check out those red jeans. And luckily they still had them in normal sizes.

Note: That is not my tummy, it's the infamous Zara mirror that's making it look fat... or maybe it was all the pasta and gelati I had on vacation... :-P

We went to Venice day before yesterday. Besides all the usual. tourist spots, we also took a stroll trough the little streets and alleys where came across this little jeweler with the most amazing window display. So intricately and yet meticulously laid out.

I could have stood there for hours and hours, continuously discovering something new. Che bella!

A few weeks back Zara had a vast array of pretty colored skinny jeans and though I thought they were cute, I wasn't really tempted.

Besides, if you're even a little bit curvy and you know what's good for your ego and healthy body image, you know to steer clear of Zara jeans, because they were not made for women of the bootilicious persuasion. Which reminds me of my bff, the fabulous Pella Bella, who once posted on her facebook from a Zara dressing room that even the mirrors at Zara make you look fat... but I digress...

Colored jeans... yes... On my radar for a while now, but I wasn't really inspired to jump on the trend until I saw this outfit perfectly executed by Nati from Fashion Coup.

Vacation Playlist

So while I'm chilling in this pretty little village on Italy's Lake Garda, I thought I'd share my vacation playlist with you.

1. Bruno Mars - Lazy Song (how predictably applicable, but I think the video-clip is so funny. The little head shake thingy in the beginning always makes me laugh.)

2. Mark Ronson & The Business Intl. ft. Boy George - Somebody to love me. (I'm an 80's kid; nothing but love for Boy George!!)

3. Lykke Li - I follow Rivers. (I think this is such a cool song, the clip creeps me out though...)

4. Kreayshawn - Gucci Gucci (I will Stan for LV forever, but I'm not made at her. I'm far from basic. :-)

6. Mary J Blige - Work that (This song is off her 2007 album Growing Pains, but I only just discovered it and already it is one of my anthems.)

I've seen this done before with a crisp whit men's shirt, but never with a sweatshirt. And that is exactly what I love about this photo. This young lady has taken that initial idea a step further, just beyond the limit of what is "stylish" and what is "out there" and yet it still works.

My search is finally over. I have found my holy grail hair product! Drumroll please...

It's Herbal Essences Beautiful Ends Leave-in Conditioner.

My hair is extremely dry and seemed to have gotten even drier as I went natural. I tried the heavy oils like Sheabutter and Castor Oil that were supposed to "keep the moisture in". They worked okay and I'll admit that they made my hair look great, but oh my God the greasiness was just too embarrassing!! I'm talking full on 'Soul Glow' effect... You can ask my beautician, my dentist and my dry cleaner about me and the nice greasy stains I used to leave behind. Just mortifying but finally and thankfully a thing of the past!

My hair is now soft and moisturized and as an added bonus it smells amazing! Like red raspberry candy, simply delicious!! I'm completely converted. Completely. Period.

Why? Because it inspired me in a very unexpected way. I've been suffering from a lack of inspiration for the past 5 months and just couldn't figure out why. Seeing this image reminded me of why I love fashion. I realized that it's the high fashion, high glam, high gloss, fantasy images of editorials that really inspire me! So although I really enjoy street style and personal style blogs, I miss my magazines.

One of the major drugstore chains here in The Netherlands (Kruidvat for any Dutch readers) is having a buy 1 get 1 free sale on nail-polishes from Catrice & Essence. So I picked up these 4 nude colors from Catrice.

From left to right these are:

I'm so into nudes right now, I couldn't pass these up. This little haul cost me a whopping €5!

From the very first time I saw this Zara bag, back in December, I just knew I had to have it. And since I'm not getting designer sunglasses this year, I figure I'm allowed the €119,- "splurge". The only problem is which one to get?

I've narrowed it down to these 2 colors:

What do you guys think? I'm leaning towards the lighter color, because

a. I don't own any bags that color yet...
b. I think that just as with my MK watch the lighter color will suit my skin tone better and
c. I'm hoping that if I get it, I can finally stop thinking about the LV Galliera GM in Damier Azur. Which retails at €1.110,- Talk about splurge... :-)

I LOVE this clutch from H&M's Fashion Against Aids collection.

It has a beautiful super shiny silver finish like the LV Miroir bags with bright, nearly neon, yellow details.

I'm not sure how I'm going to wear it yet, but I'm so in love with it, I'm sure I'll find a way! I also picked up a couple of other little purses from H&M.

The blue and red one I use to carry little things in my bag like my perfume, tissues, aspirins etc. The pink is a just little card holder, but I love this powdery kind of aged pink color.

The weather has been so lovely here in Holland lately. Time to break out the sunglasses!! I picked up 3 different ones at H&M in the past two weeks. So here's my little sunnies haul.

Little side story on the aviators: Two years ago just after I bought my Chloe Tamaris, I spotted the Michael Kors Tahiti.

Unfortunately I have a little rule to help keep my finances on the healthier side of things: I'm allowed 1 pair designer sunglasses per year. So I couldn't have both and I had to pass on the Michael Kors. This little find makes up for that and at € 7,95 I'm extra pleased, because the Tahiti was € 289. Good prices come to those who wait. :-)

Color blocking done right...

Colorblocking is a huge trend this spring / summer, but I've noticed that the fabric is just as important as the colors you choose. If the fabric isn't right (read: expensive looking), my fear is that I'll just end up looking like I'm wearing my latest thrift store haul.

To be on the safe side I'm going to stick with deep rich jewel tone colors and luxurious fabrics like satins and silk. I will also be reaching for gold accessories, like belts & big gold cuffs, just to tie in with the opulence of the fabrics.

So I've been gone for a while... you know...life and stuff, but as a come back present I'm treating you to something extra special...

No just joking, not a photo of me, but of my hair!! I had a side shaved off yesterday and I love it so much!! I did a post on this hairstyle back in 2009 when it first became popular. It's not really that it took me nearly two years to pluck up the courage, but more that it feels so right at this stage in my life and I'm so glad I did it!

This picture was taken in my Mom's office, so ignore the clutter (and Barney ehem...) in the back ground and fix your eyes on my lovely new friend on my wrist! It's from Triwa's Miami Deco Collection that came out in Europe in 2008, which is probably the reason why I got it for about €90 in the sales back in January. This pastel green color is called Turquoise Flamingo. The Miami Deco Collection just came out stateside, so this baby is still available on their US website: www.triwa.com.

So there you go a 2 for 1 comeback post. That does make up for being away for so long, right? No? Hmmm...

Christian Dior fired John Galliano today after the video surfaced yesterday of him going off at a group of people in La Perle. This after being accused last Friday of making anti-semitic remarks at another couple, incidentally in the same restaurant.

Sidney Toledano, Dior’s president and CEO, stated: “I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.”

Have you seen the video? It's a sad sad thing to behold. First and foremost because of the things he was saying. Secondly because it makes you wonder how someone who creates such beautiful things can behave in such an ugly way. And thirdly, because he is so so so so DRUNK!!!

It's sad to see a person who on the outside seems to live such a blessed existence drinking alone in a bar, spewing such vileness. This kind of behavior always makes me wonder about a person's state of mind and self worth. People who truly love themselves just don't behave like this.

Many were shocked when Dior suspended him with a quickness after the first allegations came to light on Friday. I admit, I too found it a bit curious that Dior would suspend him without any proof, but it's obvious now that they knew more than we did. They didn't seem shocked or surprised. Which leads me to believe that they must have observed or at least heard of similar behavior in the past. Who knows, he might have already been officially warned for this sort of behavior.

I'm curious to see how this plays out. As of now, Dior intends to proceed with its runway show in Paris this Friday.

I'm excited people! Given my love of everything leopard print, my obsession with Alexander Wang's Alla leopard wedges wasn't very surprising.

Oh how I lusted after those shoes... patiently waited for the perfect dupe and sure 'nuf they came along in form of Nina Shoes' Yaneli wedges.

At $ 109 it seemed that the shoe fairy had granted my wish, but my hopes were dashed, since they don't ship internationally. But today was a good day my friends, because as I was browsing through H&M's latest offerings my eyes fell on these lovelies and yes they're now mine. All mine!!

I predict I'll be living in these babies all spring and summer this year!

As you might have noticed, I've been a bit low key on the post front lately. I'm sorry, but I've been ssoooo busy. Busy stuffing my face over the holidays. Busy shopping the sales (more on that later) Busy laying about scratching my belly and playing games on Le BF's i-pad... so yeah not busy at all, but not lazy either. To tell you the truth I just wasn't inspired to blog. Zero inspiration, nothing, zip, zilch. That doesn't mean I was under a rock some where though. I've not missed a thing.

Like the Emmanuelle Alt's appointment as Vogue Paris' editor in chief? Can I call 'em or can I call 'em... Okay, alright, so we didn't exactly need a crystal ball to predict that one. She really was the next logical choice. I've noticed that a lot of people are skeptical about her ability to run a magazine, but I'm all for giving everyone a fair chance. And lest we forget... she is one half of the fantabulous cool that is this pic.

Something tells me she'll do just fine. What do you guys think?

P.S. Yes, we will now return to our regular programming.

I sat down to write a little retrospective of 2010, but I won't bother... other than to say that 2010 was a very good year for me and there is a lot that I'm thankful for. I'm looking forward to this new year with hope and optimism. I wish for you all (as I wish for myself) that your life blossoms to it's full potential, bringing with it the manifestation of all your dreams and aspirations! British Vogue announced today that Carine Roitfeld will be leaving Vogue Paris at the end of January 2011. It isn't completely clear why she's leaving or what she plans do after that time other than that she has decided to "concentrate on personal projects"...

I have to admit that I'm a bit sad about this. Heck, I'm A LOT sad about this. I just can't believe it! Vogue Paris has become synonymous with Carine and now after ten years at the helm she's leaving! Oh God, I'm going to MISS her...

I'm really curious to know what those "personal projects" will be and if any of them have anything to do with Tom Ford's return to women's fashion. I just hope we will be seeing her around. She really is one of my heroes.

I wonder who is going to replace her... Emmanuelle? Those are tough shoes to fill.

His name is Mboko Ndimba Mobutu. He's a stylist and fashion editor for Ghubar magazine and of course, like most fashion folk, he has a blog all of his own: MusicFashionArt. Which is as young, fresh & new as you would expect from someone with his impeccable taste. Definitely worth checking out.

Hey All, I'm back. I hope every one had a great Thanksgiving Day weekend! Mine was awesome! I got to spend some quality time with family and friends this weekend, which always great.

So Friday the idea popped into my head to go and check out the bazaar in The Hague. It was such a random thought, that I figured I'd just run with the inspiration. I was not disappointed! Although on a whole there wasn't a whole lot to see there, I did stumble across this one stall selling great vintage clothing for unbelievable prices!

I picked up two leather skirts for €5 each!

This a really gorgeous navy blue and this photo isn't really doing it much justice.

I wore this grey one yesterday. LOVE it! I paired it with just a simple grey sweater (H&M) and brown suede boots (Zara old).

Side note: The guy at the stall also had the largest collection of the gnarliest looking fox furs I've ever seen in my life! Some of them were so little that I'm sure they were ferrets. Really grossed me out... It was just one of those moments that you regret not having your camera with you. :o)

Is it a good thing or bad thing that Lanvin's creative team used this collection as "inspiration" for the collaboration with H&M? You tell me. Granted I might be a bit biased since I wasn't impressed with the collaboration collection to begin with, but this strikes me as a bit... dare I say it... lazy.

What broke the Camel's Back...?

Camel is such a big trend this winter, but if like me you're considering buying a camel coat this winter, you might want to read the article that Sarah Mower wrote for the Telegraph last month before shelling out your hard earned dough on that fab new coat. In the article called "Looking snug, Feeling smug." she explains:

"One piece of advice I can give is this: do not buy anything camel. It used to be a durable classic, but fashion has got hold of it this year and inverted its values. It's now so trendy and everywhere that you'll go off it by December. And - here's a weird thing to look out for in any mid-to-low price coat - much of it appears to have been extruded out of a mysterious form of hairy sponge. When you reach out to touch what your eye is promising must be beautifully tactile camel hair, cashmere or vicuña, what you get is a handful of thin, lightweight, foamy-feeling stuff. This deceptive product of some fiendish chemist's lab allows the material to keep its structure so that any extras, such as proper facings and linings, can be done away with. Two points here: this material tends to crease, turning shabby in no time, and it's useless in the cold. I categorise these as fake coats. From the manufacturers' point of view, this low-cost way of making a "coat" appear nice and substantial, while doing away with the substance of traditional tailoring, is supposedly an answer to the reality that it's too warm to warrant a heavy coat most of the time. That's one way of getting around climate change, but it's a big quality cheat, too."

I had to agree with her remark that being such a huge trend, you're bound to see camel EVERYWHERE and end up being completely be over it by December. As much as I love fashion, I don't want to look like a fashion victim and I really don't like wearing easily recognizable pieces either. *cough*H&M aviator jacket*cough*
A winter coat is too large an investment to risk being completely bored with it before the year is out. So, taking Sarah's advice to heart, I decided to pass up this camel beauty from Zara that I'd been eyeing up since the end of the summer...

and go for this classic beige coat from New Yorker instead.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but it reminds me of this outfit Anne Hathaway wore in The Devil wears Prada.

In any case, I'm happy with my choice. This is a coat I'll be comfortable wearing not only all of this winter, but probably also quite a few winters to come. Besides, there are so many other ways to wear camel. Right now I'm loving it with red...

I was spoiled silly this year for my birthday...and I loved every minute of it! I got to spend quality time with friends, family and of course le BF. I had waaaayyy too much cake. And on top all that I received the cutest gifts!

Yes, it's my birthday today!

... and I have to work. Whomp whomp whomp... No worries though, I plan to enjoy it to the fullest! I am healthy and happy. I have the love of my family and wonderful friends. A lot to be thankful for! Plus I have a weekend of facials, massages, make up and shoe shopping to look forward to.

Let's talk skin care for a minute... I was given a sample of Estée Lauder's Advanced Night Repair many years ago and I loved it! This was the product that initially turned me on to Estée Lauder skin care. And for years I used only Estée Lauder products for my skin.

This was my regimen:

Cleanse: Perfectly Clean Splash Away Foaming Cleanser (normal/combination skin)

Tone: Perfectly Clean Fresh Balancing Lotion

Repair Serum: Idealist Pore Minimizing Skin Refinisher (day) & Advanced Night Repair (night)

Moisturize: Resilience Lift Extreme. The Ultra Firming Creme SPF 15 for day and Over Night Ultra Firming Creme at night.

I never really had problem skin, but this regimen just absolutely perfected my skin and as a result of it, this is what my skin looked like .

But as you already suspect, there was trouble in paradise. I wasn't crazy about the formulation of the cleanser, I didn't like the scent of the day creme and for the what it cost I wasn't so sure about the results I was getting with the Idealist serum. And therein lies the crux: The cost. Estée Lauder is not cheap. So even though I loved all the other products in my regimen, gradually I started replacing them too with cheaper alternatives... Big mistake. Big. Huge! (I saw Julia Roberts in Valentine's Day yesterday. Loved it.)

So now I'm back, like a prodigal ehmm.. daughter. I purchased Advanced Night Repair at Douglas about 2 weeks ago and received a little gift with it:

Besides a lipstick and mascara this little gift set also contains miniatures of the Perfectionist Wrinkle Lifting Serum, Time Zone Line and Wrinkle Reducing Creme and Time Zone Anti Line/Wrinkle Eye Creme.

After just 2 weeks I'm already seeing a huge difference in my skin, so I'm hopeful I can get my skin back to the way it was. Who said you can never go back? It's good to be home. :-)

I just discovered Tamu McPherson and her fabulous blog: All the pretty birds. She really has an amazing eye!

I mean, of course I had heard the name of her blog in passing many times before, but had never really taken a good look until now. This is just one of those things that developed gradually. I love when that happens, when life kind of sets you up and prepares you for new discoveries or new insights. I saw Vogue Black's "Spotlight On" profile on her two weeks ago and liked her immediately. And this past weekend I saw a profile on her at Coco & Creme. So yesterday I finally got a around to checking her blog out and now I'm hooked.

I like her fresh perspective. I see A LOT of blogs and I'm finding that more and more that you see pretty much the same faces and outfits on all the major blogs, especially during fashion month. You know, the big fashion players like Anna (DR not W), Kate, Christine etc. I like that Tamu's FW photo's are of very different people. Also I love the little back ground stories she gives us with a lot of her shots, telling us what inspired her about a certain look. So I'm happy to have "discovered" All the pretty birds.

Another fresh new, new to me at least, blog I'm enjoying in Kristina Gisors': Your Private Shopper. She has a very unique sort of quirky yet refined style. Check out her Vogue Black "Spotlight On" feature here.

Hermès vs. LVMH... (round 2)

So LVMH's Bernard Arnault responded Hermès' outrage in Le Figaro yesterday, basically repeating LVMH's claim that their presence in the Hermès capital is completely amicable. He actually accused Hermès of being hostile in their demand that LVMH withdraws. He literally said: "Our presence in the capital of Hermes presents no risk to society nor to family control."

That's like a burglor standing in your living room with your silverware in his hand saying: "Me a burglor? Please! I'm just standing here. I mean you and your family no harm and as long as I'm just standing here and don't leave actually with your silverware, it's not really theft... technically. I don't know what you're getting so worked up about and frankly I don't think I like your attitude Missy."

I mean really Mr. Arnault. Seriously?

Lanvin ♥ HM (part 2)

Like I said before, although I love the concept of these collaborations, you know, the idea of making high fashion design affordable for the masses, I'm never really wowed by the actual collections themselves.

I saw this on Coco & Creme and just had to smile, but also every single one is so true!

The 10 Weave Commandments

1. Thou shalt blend. There’s nothing worse than a weave with conflicting textures. If you’re unable to manipulate your true texture to mimic that of your weave, then you should get a weave that replicates your true strands.

2. Thou shalt not let thy tracks be visible. You might as well leave the house with a pack of Remy 1B 14-inch in your hand. If you’re unable to properly conceal your weave, just skip it all together.

3. Thou shalt have thy tracks sewn on securely. Over time, tracks will loosen as you style your weave. But there’s no reason for them to be hanging on for dear life by a single strand of weaving thread after one week of wear.

4. Thou shalt not leave the salon in discomfort. I’ve witnessed too many women leaving the salon with a headache because their tracks were sewn on too tight. Not only is it painful, but it also puts you at risk of traction alopecia.

5. Thou shalt not wear a shiny weave. A quality weave will have a natural luster to it. There is no need to weigh it down with tons of product. This will only make it look fake. The more lightness and bounce your weave has, the more authentic it will look and feel.

6. Thou shall use the proper products for maintenance. Each weave has different needs. A curly weave might require a leave-in conditioner to reduce frizz, while a straight one might call for a lightweight moisturizer, or nothing at all. It varies, so do your research.

7. Thou shalt care for thy weave as if it were thy real hair. Maximize the life of your weave by properly protecting it at night, avoiding over-processing with heat, and cleansing it regularly. Consult your hairstylist about how often you should shampoo and condition your extensions.

8. Thou shalt protect thy edges and scalp. We’ve all seen the photos of Naomi floating around the web. Ladies, this doesn’t have to be your fate! Massage an oil, such as olive or jojoba oil, infused with a stimulating herb, like rosemary, along your edges, nape, and scalp, to prevent breakage.

9. Thou shalt not wear a weave beyond its expiration date. It’s recommended that you keep your extensions in for 6 to 8 weeks. Any longer than that can lead to matting (of your actual hair) and result in hair loss.

10. Thou shalt not become attached to thy weave. We’re not talking about having a styling preference. We’re talking about feeling that you need a weave to be attractive. At the end of the day, beauty exudes from the inside. Your weave should be an accessory not a mask for your insecurity.

Hermès vs. LVMH...

I'm quite intrigued by this development. Last month LVMH stealth purchased a 17,1% interest in Hermès, which is reported to be worth over 2 billion dollars, but claims to have no intention to take over Hermès. At least... "not in the next six months". What is that supposed to mean? And who do they think they're fooling, really?

The folks at Hermès of course, not being idiots, responded in an interview in Le Figaro today and not so kindly asked LVMH to withdraw their capital. Hermès, unlike most luxury brands nowadays, is still family owned. Bertrand Puech, a fifth-generation descendant of founder Thierry Hermès said:

"The family has clearly and unanimously said: If you want to be friendly, Mister Arnault, you need to withdraw."

I have to agree with Hermes CEO Patrick Thomas who stated: "This culture (of craftmanship and strong traditions) is hardly compatible with one of a big group. It is not a financial battle, it’s a cultural battle.” Joining such a large group will no doubt bring many changes with it. Including aspects of the production process if they prove to or are thought to negatively affect the bottom line.

And besides that I suppose the traditionalist in me prefers to see the company remain within the family. Look at what happened to Valentino... I'm just saying...

To be honest, this little stunt makes me curious to know how other brands within the LVMH Group were acquired. Especially considering that LVMH chairman and CEO Bernard Arnault phoned Mr. Puech to inform him just hours before issuing a statement announcing LVMH's acquisition of the Hermès shares. Hermès family members still control the 73% in the firm not currently owned by Arnault, and are awaiting the French market regulator's decision on whether LVMH's stake purchase happened legally.

But ponder this for a minute: If 73% is still within the family, where was the 17% before LVMH got hold of it? In other words, who sold LVMH those shares? Was it a family member? And if so, who's the Judas? And where is the remaining 10% now?

So many questions! I'm curious to see how this plays out...

I just love the subdued blend of colors and how you can really see the luxurious quality of the fabrics. I can only imagine how soft and comfortable this outfit must feel. Last year I lived through one of the most scary and challenging years of my life and I have to say if it wasn't for my friends (and of course the everloving BF) I don't know how I would have made it through. Their support still amazes me. And when it was all over and my faith in my self was still shaky from the experience, they were right there with encouragement in the form of "Fashion Blogs" by Krista van der Niet & Felicia Nitzsche, a reminder of their faith in me.

Last Sunday I had brunch with my babes and received those beautiful peacock earrings from Ras who read my blog and saw that I was on the look out for a pair. And that beautiful beaded necklace was a gift from Fran, who picked it up because she thought it was so me.

Thank you guys for your never ending love and support. I am truly blessed to have friends like you!

When I'm out and about I have a tendency to check out peoples' shoes. I can't help it, I just LOVE shoes. Generally there's not that much so see, but the rare occasions that I catch a glimpse of something special, totally make up for that. Last week, though I saw something that really made me do a double take. I spotted this girl who had what looked like a lace g-string peeping out of her shoes.

I seriously had an involuntary Scooby Doo moment. You know, like: Hhrrrooughh?

This called for some investigation. I just had to find out what the heck that was! My search quickly brought me to Toe-G.com. Actual lingerie for your feet, created for "those moments when shoes are not the right look, but a barefoot seems so under dressed." ...ehhh, foot fetishes aside... seriously? Here are some of the options to choose from.

Now, I'm not saying these are ugly. Those last ones with the flowers are actually kinda cute. I could totally see myself wearing those for my dream barefoot beach wedding someday, but to run around the city with them sticking out of my courts is a whole other story.

Toe-G, unfortunately, was not the only site my search turned up... Brace yourself now...

This is just WRONG!!! On soooooooo many levels, but whatever floats your boat right? And if you'd like to get your own pair of leopard print "Foot Undeez", you crazy freak, you can get these at Capezio. And no, I'm not linking you to the site. I outright refuse to facilitate you in this. :-p

It's Sunday afternoon, time for some randomness...

Ever searched high and low for the perfect pair of shoes to go with that special outfit? In vain? Wouldn't it be nice if you could design your own shoes?

Well the answer is here: Shoes of Prey. One of my best friends tipped me on them this week. (Thanks Fran!) They offer a wide range of designs to choose from, in a multitude of textures and fabrics. It's so simple, literally 1, 2, 3 easy.

1. You choose the design you want.

2. You choose the fabric and color you want.

3. You click "Buy Now" and the shoes are shipped to your door! They even have a 30 day return policy! How utterly FAB is that!?

So now I'm thinking about shoes (well... to be honest, I'm always thinking about shoes) and with fall just around the corner, specifically winter boots. The only problem is that nothing is really grabbing my attention, except for these Chloé boots. I love the dainty scallop detailing on the back and the shape is just about perfect.

Available at Net-A-Porter for € 845. But I'll be keeping my eye out for a cheaper alternative.

For the first time ever I'm thinking about the upcoming fashion weeks and wishing I could go to New York fashion week this year.

A sign of things to come? Who knows. It's definitely been a dream of mine to visit New York one day. I will follow through on this feeling though and view the shows as they come online at style.com. I might even do a couple of reviews of the shows here on the blog. We'll see.

Another dream of mine has been to learn to speak French. I lived in Paris for about three months in the summer of 2000 and it's never let me go. Here's a beginners lesson in pronunciation I found on youtube today. As a big LV lover I think it's the perfect place to start ;-) Parlez vous LV?

So after much speculation H&M announced it today, the 2010 designer collaboration of Swedish fashion retailer is with none other than Lanvin.

Am I disappointed that it's Alber Elbaz instead of Bottega Veneta's Tomas Maier? I'd be lying if I said I wasn't. However, Lanvin is known for it's beautifully sleek yet always über luxurious design, so I'm very curious to see what this collaborations produces. Check out what Lanvin's Alber Elbaz has to say about the collaboration.

... oh and I have to admit that I'm also relieved I won't have to do any camping. ;-)

Tomas Maier of Bottega Veneta is rumored to be one of two guest designers to collaborate with H&M this fall! *happy dance*

Usually I'm a bit blasé about H&M collaborations. I just can't camp out in front of stores to be the first one inside, because frankly I don't do camping... unless the tent is going to be pitched in a hotel room. BUT I'm such a huge Bottega Veneta fan that if this rumor proves true, I just might have to make an exception. Actually, I'm hoping that Tomas Maier will be doing a men's line, which should attract less hysterics. ;-)

We'll have to wait and see though, because H&M is being a tease about it and has posted these two mysterious videos on their official Facebook page. Some have guessed the other designer to be Carolina Herrera, but I'm not so sure. The hair is a bit long, no? I'm leaning more towards Alberta Ferretti.

After my little rant last year, I don't have to tell you how pleased I am that a year later British Vogue is still running it's "More Dash than Cash" feature.

This month I was pleasantly surprised and extra pleased to find a shoe from Primark no less featured in the "More Dash than Cash" pages!

To me this is a monumental precedent. Does it mean though that times are a-changing? That Vogue is taking it's nose out of the air and planting it's feet on the ground?

No, not really. The mag is still filled with designer brands, but in all honesty that's the way we like it. However, it is good to see that a brand like Primark is not excluded by default. Primark has become a "must shop" destination for many women, especially young girls, who are making wiser financial choices when it comes to fashion nowadays. Cheap Chic is "in" and the placement of this shoe in the mag shows that Vogue is more and more taking into consideration who their readers really are and not only what they like, but also where they shop.

Remember that fabulous crocodile Balmain blazer/jacket I showed you a while back?

Yeah well... I didn't buy that. Frankly, I thought I'd spend my € 74.000,- a bit more wisely...

But I did get this!

I'm so in love with this skirt. And if the sheer fab-ness of it wasn't enough, the price was an unbelievable € 20! I picked it up at Episode. It's such a great 2nd hand store. Last year I got an amazing pair of black leather over the knee boots there for just € 40!

Okay one more gratuitous detail shot. ;-)

Hair Crush...

Bianca Balti is now officially one of my hair crushes.

I mean just look at those big sexy curls! I have to admit after seeing this, I was tempted to grab my flat iron and have a go, but I was strong and I didn't.

You may have noticed that I've been wearing my hair natural this summer. After leaving my flatiron to contemplate it's sins and wearing braid-outs for the past 3 months, I have to say, it's been great! Very, very few "my braid-out didn't dry properly, so now I have a big frizzy mess" hair days.

I really do have a penchant for big hair, whether it by straight like Bianca's or curly. And if Bianca is my big straight hair crush, then my big curly hair crush has got to be Corinne Bailey Ray.

Isn't that just beautiful?
